Each Account can be linked to multiple Identities, which supports Joint Accounts (where two Identities have the ability to transact against a single Profile). Account members are effectively immutable. In order to update an account member, clients should remove then re-add the account member with the desired state. The API requires clients to have write access on the account and all identities associated with the account.

Member Roles

Use the roles array when adding account members through Add Account Members or Create Account. AccountMember.type is deprecated and remains supported for compatibility. Replace a member’s "type": "AUTHORIZED_USER" with "roles": ["AUTHORIZED_USER"] in your requests, and read roles in account member responses. Account members link identities to accounts. Institution members link person identities to institutions and use a separate set of roles. See the migration guide for the distinction.
